I first heard about Therese’s book The Body Has its Reasons when I was at university studying dance. I did not actually read the book until several years later, but I immediately connected with Thérèse and her vision for the body. I tried the “preliminaries” at the back of the book and found them very intriguing! I have studied many body and movement forms: Laban, Bartenieff, Body Mind Centering, Contact Improvisation, Pilates, Yoga, Authentic Movement, and have also passed up many trainings because I felt they were too similar to what I already do or know. However, Antigym® is truly in a category of its own, and after practicing it for a while I decided I would like to deepen my knowledge, and to be able to share this unique method with other people. I completed my practioner certification in October 2012 and am currently offering sessions in Halifax, Nova Scotia – and since Covid also online! In October 2016 I completed the teacher trainer course in Paris and so am now able to train others to become Antigym®practitioners! I can say that I have received enormous benefits in my own life – physical, mental and psychological ones – from practicing Antigym®. I also feel very privileged to accompany others as they start their own journey towards better awareness, alignment, and integration in their bodies.
